23/8/21 Arrived IOM about 6.00 me, Jon & Paul just in time for tea. Tue morn full english & out on the bikes. Just a short one today, north part of the island about 60 miles nice & easy (yeh right) says Jon. A few lanes done enjoying the scenery we pass a lane & about turn, this looks like a good one. How wrong can u be, the first big rock step spits Jon off & we then haul the three bikes up. 50yds on were stopped again this time by a tree, an hour to do 100yds (great start to the day). The riding got better as the day went on, great lane after greet lane all a real challenge especially for Paul who had a couple of bad offs. The last one on the milenium way going back.
Wed we set off without Paul (bad back) hoping to meet him in Peel for dinner. Center of the island today about 80 miles. Again starting of easy gradually getting harder till we got to a sign CAUTION 2km ahead (how bad could it be) hard to describe really 5 feet deep handlebar wide with rock steps & overgrown with brambles (no way so about turn). The next one was no better, slate sheet as far as you could see, so took some easier lanes on the way back to Douglas.
Thurs no Paul again (he was catching the early ferry home) so south of the island today. Heading down toward the calf of man, an easier day today if you can call it that with every type of lane you can think of, turning of the milenium way heading towards the mountain road we saw the dreaded blue flashing police lights (car & bike crash) the road would be closed for the next 3hrs. So a scenic road ride back to the digs. Pack up the van, shower & fish & chips on the prom for tea then ferry home.
This doesn't describe how awesome the riding was.
Big THANKS to Jon for organising & leading the trip.
If you like the idea of this trip book in for next year. I HAVE.
