Earlier in the year the coast to coast was mentioned but nobody fancied taking the days off work to do it, so doing it in a day was the plan. After a lot of mapping & planning by Ray a route was formed. Setting of from Grange & roughly passing Kendal, Tebay, Kirkby Stephen, Hawes, Aysgarth, Melmerby, Lofthouse, Grewelthorpe, Busby stoop, Thirsk, Hawnby, Rievaulx terrace, Great Ayton, Whitby. An 8.00 clock start saw 8 riders set of with Matt with his car & trailer as backup. First hiccup was Jon with a seized & warped front brake which left him with no front brake for the rest of the ride. Jon again with a rear puncture [ quickly fixed by Keith with Rays spare]. Steve was also having problems with his honda [ which ended with him getting a trailered home by Matt later in the day]. A repair to Keiths beta was the last was the last of the day and gave us a clean run to the hotel / campsite, reaching the hotel about 8.00 just in time for food, a few beers & some trash talk. Next day saw us into Whitby for an ice cream & set of for home. A fantastic days trail riding but not for the faint hearted [ no wonder this is usually done in 2 days ] as a good pace was needed to cover the miles in a day. Breasthigh road, Roman road, Rudland rig & I think Danby moor were some of the highlights. There were many more but to be honest I couldn't name them. Huge thanks to Ray for the hard work put in to make this possible. Also to Matt for the back up. Riders on the day were Ray, Steve, Steve, Nick, Chris, Keith, Jon, Tony.
