With no takers for the ride out on sunday & not able to get out till next month I went out anyway. Parked in Llanfyllin & headed towards Dolgellau, deciding to pick up as many new lanes as possible & see how far I got. The heat combined with opening & closing gates made it hard work, but there was no rush. All the lanes were nice & dry making life a bit easier, even the bog on turbine lane [ Waun Oer ] was nearly dry, still went round it as going through leaves you stinking. A few lanes later I ended up in Mallwyd on the a458. Petrol & cafe by the roundabout was a nice surprise. Next lane started just behind the petrol station, thought I had got this wrong as it was tarmac for ages ending in a farmyard. Looking around in the rh corner was a gate leading to a really nice easy lane heading back to the main rd. Headed back down the a458 to the llanfyllin turn b4395, turned of this to cross the ford near Glan y rhyd & two more lanes got me back to the van. Being on my own made it hard work but also gave me time to get things wrong without the pressure of leading a group down wrong trails or into farm yards. With a little more work on this route we should be able to get to Dolgellau & back on a good day. Set of at 9.00 & got back at 5.00 . Nearly a 2 hour drive to Llanfyllin for me but worth it. You boys don't know what Your missing.
